Terms of Service

Agreement

• You have authority to enter this agreement

These Terms are between you and Pesa Notes (“we”, “us”). They cover the Android app and this website.

The service

Pesa Notes is personal finance software. After you sign in, you pick a country (that sets currency once) and accounts, or Cash at zero. Home shows You have: Safe to spend, the sum of accounts marked for everyday use. Upcoming bills stay in a list and are not subtracted. Transfers between your own accounts are not income or expenses. Income you record is take-home (what arrived). PAYE and social fund you record as withheld never hit the account and are not spent. Spending and transfers cannot take an account below zero. If the account you picked is short, you can pay from another Safe-to-spend account, or turn Safe to spend on for an account that has enough. Insights are arithmetic on what you entered, on the device; they are not advice. It is not a bank, not financial advice, and not tax or accounting software.

• Free: tracking, accounts, You have, this month’s take-home and spent, category mix and daily spending, up to three budgets, recurrences, goals, and debts, Activity for the current month, on-device storage, encrypted Drive backup, a banner ad on Home, Activity, Plans, or Insights (never on save, +, or You have)
• Premium via Google Play (monthly, and 4-month if listed at checkout; first-time eligible accounts get a 3-day Play trial): no ads, full Activity history, unlimited budgets, recurrences, goals, and debts, calendar projection, past months on Insights, remaining after spent and goals, savings rate, weekday mix, amounts still on the calendar this month, and After debts (accounts minus what you owe plus what you are owed)
• Optional app lock (6-digit PIN or password, and fingerprint)
• Email or Google sign-in required; email sign-in must be verified

Country and currency are chosen once during setup and do not change later except when a Drive restore reloads that choice. Display name and photo come from Google or email at sign-in; you can edit them in Settings. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice where we can.

Your account

• Keep registration details accurate
• One primary account per person
• You are responsible for credentials and app-lock secrets
• Use Settings in the app, or Contact, if you suspect unauthorized access

Subscriptions

Premium is sold through Google Play. Price, currency, and renewal are shown at purchase and in your Play library. We do not store payment cards. There is no first-install Premium window in the app. First-time eligible Google Play accounts may receive a 3-day trial on the monthly plan.

• Cancel anytime in Google Play under Subscriptions
• Refunds follow Google Play’s policy; we do not refund unused days ourselves
• After the paid period, the app follows free-tier gates. Your local data remains on the device

Acceptable use

You may record your own money. You may not:

• Use the app for illegal activity
• Attempt to break, scrape, or reverse-engineer the app
• Misuse another person’s account
• Circumvent Play billing

Your data

You own the records you enter. We do not claim them. You are responsible for their accuracy and for backups. Drive backup is an encrypted convenience copy, not live sync and not a guaranteed archive. Turn on Drive backup or copy your records before you delete the signed-in account.

You cannot delete a money account that still has transactions, recurrences, or a linked goal: that would remove those records. Archive it instead so it leaves everyday use and You have while history stays. Empty unused accounts can be deleted.

The current app uses a local database that is incompatible with older versions (schema version below 3). If an older local file cannot be used, it is wiped and recreated empty rather than migrated. Make a backup first if you still need old records. Old Drive files named for earlier schema versions are not restored.

Intellectual property

The Pesa Notes name, logo, design, and code are ours. We grant a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your Android device. You may not copy, resell, or remove notices.

Disclaimer

The app is provided “as is”. Figures such as You have on Home depend on what you enter and which accounts are in Safe to spend. Remaining on Insights is take-home minus spent and goal contributions for that month; it is not You have. After debts is accounts minus what you owe plus what you are owed; it is not this month’s in minus out. We do not warrant uninterrupted service or that every calculation fits every situation. Consult a qualified adviser for financial or tax decisions.

We are not responsible for Google Play, Firebase, Drive, or AdMob outages.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or data loss from device failure, theft, or user error. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (often zero if you only used the free tier via Play).

Ending the agreement

You may delete the account in Settings and uninstall. We may suspend access for Terms violations, fraud, or if the law requires it, or with notice if we shut the service down. Back up first. Local data is gone when you uninstall or delete.

Changes and law

We will update the date on this page and notify in-app for material changes. Continued use is acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Disputes: use Contact first, then mediation, then proceedings in Uganda if needed.
